Herb Cline

Chief Operating Officer, Sovereign Insurance

Herb is the Vice-President of Commercial Solutions at Sovereign Insurance, where he leads a dynamic and diverse team that provides tailored risk solutions to Canadian Businesses in partnership with an expert broker network. His 20 years of experience in the insurance industry has spanned leadership roles in both the financial and operational disciplines with key involvements in acquisitions, joint ventures and the creation of strategic partnerships.

Herb has leadership experience in public accounting, non-profit, transportation, retail and real estate development that has built a passion for finding a way to protect businesses. Herb is motivated by building businesses through both acquisition and capitalizing on opportunities in under-served markets He has led large multi-company projects that focused on bringing enhanced value to the customer. He has broken ground by forming the first shared services organization within the Co-operators group of companies and tripled the size of a transportation organization through acquisition.

Throughout his career, Herb has always sought new challenges and opportunities to bring highly skilled people together to create new and innovative solutions that help businesses to succeed. Herb joined Sovereign in 2008 as the Vice-President of Finance moving to Operations in 2015.

Since moving to the Operations role, Herb has focused on completing the transformation of Sovereign from a personal lines and commodity commercial organization to a vibrant, top-tier, mid-market risk solutions provider. He has a deep respect for our broker partners and looks for ways to bring differentiated value to both them and our mutual clients.

When Herb is not traveling across Canada meeting with staff, brokers and clients, he embraces his life in the beautiful city of Montreal. He is passionate about family, food, wine, music, sports and travel.

Lucy Hathaway

Vice President, Sales & Distribution

Lucy is the Head of Sales & Distribution for Travelers Canada. In this role, Lucy is focused on creating an indispensable partnership with brokers through enhancing the broker experience, supporting ease of doing business and managing the broker relationships with Travelers Canada. In addition, Lucy is committed to identifying ways the company can leverage its competitive advantages to increase contract relevancy with their broker partners.

Lucy has been in the industry more than 25 years and spent half her career working in the Western Region in both underwriting and distribution roles.

Lucy has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional.

Tom Reikman

Senior Vice President and Chief Distribution Officer, Economical Insurance

Tom is senior vice-president and chief distribution officer at Economical Insurance. He oversees national broker distribution, national marketing and corporate communications for the group of companies under the Economical banner, including the retail, group, special risk, farm and pet insurance divisions. He is also the Chairman of the Board for Family Insurance Solutions in British Columbia.

Tom has more than 28 years of senior leadership experience in the property and casualty industry — including commercial underwriting, personal and group underwriting, marketing, and broker management with companies such as Aviva, Pilot, Axa, and Wellington. Tom worked previously for Economical in senior roles between 1995 and 2006.

Tom has a MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University, as well as a Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario. Tom also holds his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.

Michel Rousseau

Western Regional Manager, Chubb Insurance

Michel Rousseau started his career at Chubb in 1989. He worked most of his career in Chubb Specialty Insurance in Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver. Prior to accepting his current position with Chubb in 2007 as Senior Vice President, Prairies Regional Manager, Michel was the Regional Manager for Chubb Specialty Insurance in Eastern Canada. Through out his career Michel has been invited as guest speaker at various RIMS conference at the national and provincial chapters. Since 2007, Michel oversees P&C and Personal Lines including auto for the Prairies Region. He is an active member of the Haskayne RMIN advisory board and also a member of the IBC Alberta Committee. In his spear times, Michel likes skiing, hiking, and always enjoys some fine wine. He is married and has 2 sons.  He graduated in 1988 from University of Montreal with a finance/marketing degree.

Lana Wood

Executive Vice President, Northbridge Insurance

Lana is an Executive Vice President at Northbridge Insurance, playing an integral role in building the Northbridge Insurance brand presence, growing business in the Western marketplace, and as a member of the Executive Management Team for Northbridge Financial.

With more than 30 years of experience in the Canadian insurance industry, she’s held leadership positions with RSA, Marsh, and as President and CEO of Western Financial Group. Her career has taken her across Canada working in Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, and Vancouver.

Lana has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Acadia University and is a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional.

Kelly Albert

Crawford and Company (Canada) Inc.

Kelly Albert joined Crawford and Company (Canada) Inc. in 2014, in his role as National Account Executive he is responsible for developing client strategies with respect to risk management and claims adjustment. Kelly’s previous 23 years in the insurance industry includes appraisal, claims adjusting, claims management, catastrophe management, broker, high performance team building and coaching. Kelly recently received Crawford’s National Award for Entrepreneurial Spirit.

Barry Haggis

Young & Haggis

Barry is a third generation insurance broker who has been in the insurance industry since 2011. He previously sat on the IBAA board as the Calgary Local Council Chair and served as the President of the PYIB for the 2017-2018 term. Barry was also recently named as one of the top 35 Canadian insurance industry’s most promising young stars from Insurance Business Canada.

Barry spends the fall months coaching high school football in Calgary. He is very excited to continue working with the Sinclair Board for such great causes.

Diane Jones

Alpine Insurance & Financial

Diane Jones is new to Alpine Insurance after the company acquired her firm, Silvercrest Insurance. Diane was with Silvercrest Insurance for 18 years and was the Managing Partner. She was also the founder and Chair of the Silvercrest Charity Golf Tournament for 10 years. Diane has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Minor of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development.

Hugh McTavish

InsureMy Inc.

Hugh has spent 37 years in the insurance business. Half of this time has been spent on the Insurance Company side and the other half as a broker. Limited success achieved in both areas but he is not giving up!

Bruce Rabik

Rogers Insurance

Bruce Rabik has been the COO of Rogers Insurance and the group of companies for 17 years. Prior to that he worked as an underwriter, a business consultant to brokerages across Canada as an independent and as part of Trivest- the first broker consolidator in Canada. He holds a graduate degree in HR Management and undergraduate degrees in Economics and business. He has been involved in numerous brokerage mergers and acquisitions across Canada. He is proud of the fact that the Rogers team has been awarded more top employer awards than any other company in the insurance industry in Canada.

Bob Shaw

With over 35 years’ experience as a commercial insurance broker and prior management of corporate claims and in-house law departments, I specialize in helping clients manage their corporate risks and the costs associated with them. Having been extensively and financially invested in owner managed business since 1992, that “owner” perspective enables me to advocate for my clients as more of a business partner, than mere service provider.

Rahim Tejani

Rahim brings significant International and Canadian experience in the fields of Risk Management, Treasury, Banking, and Operations gained in over 16 years building a career in publicly traded companies.

Rahim most recently held various senior positions in both Treasury and Operations, for a large cap oil and gas producer, headquartered in Calgary with global operations.  Previous roles have provided first hand experiences with foreign political regimes and tax structures, complex offshore and onshore insurance placements, trade credit placements, capital & foreign exchange markets, hedging and operations challenges. Rahim employs a practical approach to managing risk through the identification, quantification and mitigation of financial and operational exposures.

With exposure to the client side, sell side and intermediary / broker side, he brings a well-rounded business perspective.   Rahim holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and is a CFA Charter Holder.
